Elizabeth Sieber Named Legislative Aide
I am thrilled to announce that Elizabeth (Beth) Sieber has agreed to work with me as I begin my work on Rochester’s City Council! Beth will begin her new role as the Legislative Aide in my office at City Hall on January 2, building relationships with constituents and City staff, researching and tracking legislation, composing social and print media, representing me at community events and meetings, and gathering constituent input.
Born in central Pennsylvania, Beth Sieber lived in eight different locations in four states before arriving in Rochester, New York. She has made Rochester her home over the last thirty years, and has lived or worked in every quadrant of the city. Her two adult children attended City schools and were very involved in the active art and music scenes in our community.
Beth began her career working in state government, developing Civil Service Examinations for the State of Tennessee. Since then, Beth has honed her leadership skills guiding nonprofits, both large and small, in areas of community development, diversity, parenting and preschool education, poverty, health, the environment, and the interests of those who are differently-abled.
For the past two years, Beth has been freelancing, consulting, and actively participating in the startup of the Community Advisory Council, an effort to give direct community input to the Rochester Monroe Anti Poverty Initiative (RMAPI) and other community-based programs. Beth was also appointed to leadership roles on the Beechwood Neighborhood Coalition Board and the Maryville College Alumni Board, and contributed to efforts of The Interfaith Collaborative of The Children’s Agenda, the East Main Corridor Project, and Great Schools for All. Earlier, Beth was with Unity Health (now Rochester Regional) managing the team which assisted patients to apply for government health insurance programs, Common Good Planning Center (a program of Rochester Area Community Foundation) to consult on families and regional planning, and Family Resource Centers of Rochester, Webster Avenue Center and Miriam Center in Charlotte as Director, and Church Women United as Executive Director.
Beth’s extensive volunteer experience includes service with the local chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club, Genesee Land Trust, School of the Arts, Eastman Community Music School, and East Avenue Grocery Run. Beth served as Chair of the diversity committee while on the governing board at Third Presbyterian Church, following ten years with the national board of a nonprofit advocating for GLBTQ+ rights.
