Broad Street Bridge — Past and Present
I am proud to be both a City Councilmember and a historian. I often wear both hats at once as I try to ensure that the past can inform the future. As Roc the Riverway moves forward, we need to have community conversations about the rich history of our city and how we will weave it into future developments.
I helped organize an event on The Broad Street Bridge and aqueduct because it has played a pivotal role in Rochester’s history. It carried the Erie Canal through Rochester, became the foundation for our now defunct subway system, and hosted some of the most amazing graffiti and street art in the world.
